Join experienced soft furnishing expert Ruth Nelson-White for a day of Roman Blind Making. During this full day class, you will make a sample interlined roman blind measures approximate 50cm x 70 cm. During the constructions, you'll learn a bespoke technique in roman blind constructions where there are no machine stitching lines on show in the front of the blind. Other techniques covered include blind interlining, making blind lining, pocket contructions for the rods, installing eyelets and string.
About your teacher: Ruth Nelson-White had been involved in interiors for the last twenty years , from managing an interior design shop to a sales excutive selling fabric to the trade to now making bespoke curtains and soft furnishing. She studied Textile for Fashion but somehow drifted into interiors. She loves to design and create one off window treatments to a very high standard. All of her works are hand sewn with little machine stitching to create a superior finish. In her spare time, she loves to patchwork, especially with English paper piecing.
Materials: Haberdashery and sundries for the blind constructions are included in the class fee. Student will need to bring or buy fabric and other haberdashery for this class. Please bring your own sewing machines for the class and other tools will be provided. Fabrics and sewing supplies are available to purchase from our shop. Students will received 10% off on the day of the class. Once registered, you will received a list of materials required for the class.
Skills: Student should be able to use the sewing machine independently, have some sewing experience in machine stitching and hand stitching and have completed a few patchwork or sewing projects prior to the class.
