‘Learn and apply the technique of the starch based appliqué to create a butterfly floral cushion cover, measuring 18 x 18" . During the class you will learn how to use freezer paper, a mini iron and starch to tackle convex curves, concave curves and points. From this you will learn how to place your pieces following a pattern guideline and try out different ways to apply your pieces to your chosen background fabric. A quick project that is fat quarter and scrap friendly.’ This very popular class is limited to 8 spaces.
About your teacher: Yasmeen is a hand applique and quilt designer, creating designs for the modern home under business name Sand & Stars. Having gained a Foundation Degree in Hand Embroidery at The Royal School of Needlework she went on to work within various costume departments for film, tv and the fashion industry, most notably working on the quilt in The BFG! She discovered the art of hand applique and instantly feel in love with the process. With some exciting commissions in the pipeline for 2020, Yasmeen hopes to provide beautiful patterns for people to learn the art of hand appliqué and to enjoy the process of slow stitching.
Materials: Students will need to bring or buy fabric and other haberdashery for this class. No sewing machine needed. Fabrics and sewing supplies are available to purchase from our shop. Students will received 10% off on the day of the class. Once registered, you will received a list of materials required for the class.
