How to cut, shape and machine-sew curves with bias tape. In this class teacher Jenny Haynes of Papper, Sax, Sten will talk you through different ways of using bias tape, discussing which technique works best for what project and how to get a neat finish.
But we get to try 'hands on' sewing with bias tape by making a start on The Slalom Quilt. This is a quick and fun pattern- an easy way to create curves without piecing. Jenny will be supplying wonder web tape and bias tape makers but you will need to bring your own fabrics. This class suits anyone who's got a few machine sewn projects under their belt.
About your teacher: A Swedish exile having spent the previous 18 years in Hackney, London, Jenny Haynes (née Nilsson) studied Pattern Cutting and Tailoring in her native Stockholm. Soon after, she followed her passion for fabrics and moved to London to study Fashion and Textiles at the London College of Fashion. She went on to develop her own label 'Papper, Sax, Sten' (that's 'Paper, Scissors, Stone' if you're wondering!), creating designs that reflect her different influences.
